The Arepa is a flat cornmeal patty which can be grilled, baked, or fried. The name Arepa is a word of the Caraca Indians that translates into Maize. Arepas are often eaten as a sandwich split in half and filled with cheese, deli meats, or other fillings. An Arepa is also dressed with toppings and eaten open- faced.
